Honest Reviews From Our Customers
Homeowners who hired us for tree trimming share how the job went, in their own words:
“We have a very large oak tree close to our house. A climber and 6 ground crew took down the branches, stacked the logs for firewood, chipped all the brush, cleared the roof and yard of debris, and blew off the driveway, all before noon! The team was friendly and proud of their work. Recommended.”
RoseMary Ludt
“I had two large branches cracked off of a tree during a wind storm. I called William and he sent one of his crew to help me. They came over the same day. I am very satisfied.”
Richard Krueger
“William and his crew did a fantastic job removing 3 silver maples and trimming back 2 overhanging our house and shed. They kept us informed on what they were doing and everyone was professional and courteous ! Thank you!”

Branches touching or hanging over your roof, siding or gutters
-
Limbs hanging low over the driveway, sidewalk or street

Dead, broken or hanging branches in the canopy
-
Branches crossing and rubbing against each other

A dense, overgrown canopy that blocks light to your yard

Limbs growing toward power lines

Trimming Trees Near the Street in Newark
Trees along streets and alleys in Newark come with a few city rules:
-
A free permit comes first. The City of Newark requires a free right-of-way permit before trimming trees along streets and alleys.
-
Branches need clearance. City rules call for limbs to sit at least 8 feet above sidewalks and at least 16 feet above the road.
Call the Newark Engineering Department at 740-670-7727 with permit questions, then give us a call to schedule the trim.

Tree Trimming FAQs
1. How much does tree trimming cost?
Every tree and property is different, so we price each job individually. Call us or request a free quote, and we will give you a fair price for your trees.
2. How many branches can you cut off a tree without killing it?
A good rule of thumb is to remove no more than 25% of a tree’s crown at one time, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Cutting off more than that puts the tree under heavy stress and can leave large wounds that do not close well. A tree that needs more work than that is often better trimmed in stages.
3. When is the best time to trim trees?
Dead, broken or hazardous branches can be removed any time of year. For general pruning, the Texas A&M Forest Service notes that pruning just before spring growth helps wounds close. Oaks are an exception: avoid pruning them from February through June, when the risk of oak wilt is highest.
4. Is tree trimming the same as tree pruning?
The two terms are often used interchangeably. Pruning usually means selective cuts for a tree’s health and structure, while trimming often means cutting branches back for clearance or appearance. We do both.
5. Can you trim branches hanging over my house or power lines?
Yes. We trim heavy branches, overgrowth and dead limbs hanging over homes, driveways and power lines. For a limb already touching or resting on a power line, contact your electric utility first.
6. Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. HallMade Tree Service is fully licensed and insured, so your property and assets are protected while we work.
7. What areas do you serve?
We serve Newark and Licking County, including Heath, Granville, Etna, Pataskala, Utica, Buckeye Lake and Johnstown, plus Zanesville and Franklin and Muskingum counties.
